We aim for all Scouts to achieve the highest award

To achieve the Chief Scout’s Gold Award, a scout must complete the following:

Six Activity or Staged Activity Badges:
Some staged activity badges such as the nights away or hikes can be completed as part of the programme and therefore scouts should be able to gain 2-3 of these without any extra effort. The other activity badges can be chosen by each scout depending on their particular interest and skill level. A number of these awards have a time component to them requiring a scout to maintain a certain activity over a period of weeks or month. These cannot be completed on a normal troop night so we would ask that you work with your young person to help them gain some of these awards. Please see this document to find out where they all go on the uniform
We will try to complete many of the requirements for all the challenge awards, as well as some of the activity and staged activity badges during a scout session or camp. We may also ask scouts to complete some of the requirements outside scouts. For both the challenge awards and the Activity Badges, if a scout completes the requirements as a result of a being part of another club or through school work, we are happy to accept evidence of this for these requirments.
This evidence can be either handed in to a leader, submitted via the parent portal of OSM or by emailing us at Irwin badge work
