Scout Promise and Law

When we invest a new scout we ask them to learn the Scout Promise and Scout Law.
Below is the Scout Law and The Scout Promise.

Scout Law

  • A Scout is to be trusted.
  • A Scout is loyal.
  • A Scout is friendly and considerate.
  • A Scout belongs to the world-wide family of Scouts.
  • A Scout has courage in all difficulties.
  • A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property.
  • A Scout has self-respect and respect for others.

    Scout Promise

    For Christians, Jews and Sikhs

    On my honour,
    I promise that I will do my best,
    to do my duty to God and to the Queen,
    to help other people,
    and to keep the Scout Law<

    Alternatives to the Scout Promise

    The scout association now has a number of promises to reflect the diverse religious inclusion of the movement.
    Please choose which one you would like to use from those below:

    For Hindus and Buddhists

    On my honour,
    I promise that I will do my best,
    to do my duty to my Dharmaand to the Queen,
    to help other people,
    and to keep the Scout Law.

    For Muslims

    In the name of Allah,
    the Most Beneficial and the Most Merciful,
    I promise that I will do my best,
    to do my duty to Allah and to the Queen,
    to help other people,
    and to keep the Scout Law.

    For Humanists, atheists and those with no defined faith

    On my honour,
    I promise that I will do my best,
    to uphold our Scout values,
    to do my duty to the Queen,
    to help other people,
    and to keep the Scout Law.
